Real Ash Wood Grab Bar

This is a grab bar made from solid ash wood instead of the cold stainless tubing you see everywhere else in this aisle. It's coated with a protective finish that holds up to bathroom moisture, capped on each end with polished aluminum, and mounted with a slim cylindrical peg flange instead of a bulky bracket. It holds 330 pounds, the same rating as the metal bars next to it on the shelf, so you're not giving up safety for the warmer look.

The 1¼" diameter is sized for a full, comfortable grip rather than a fingertip hold, and at 1.3 to 1.8 pounds depending on length, it's light enough that the wood never feels like it's adding bulk to the wall. Because the flange is the HUG system, it also accepts Ponte Giulio's matching vertical basket or horizontal shelf, so the same bar can double as a towel bar or a place to set soap without drilling more holes. It mounts to wood studs with the included stainless hardware, which is the more solid option when you have a stud to hit.

Why we chose this: Most of my patients want a grab bar that doesn't look like a grab bar, and a wood one mounted next to a vanity or in a guest bath does exactly that while still meeting ADA load requirements. Installation & detailed specifications

Mounts to wood studs using the included stainless steel screws (TSP 5x60). The peg-style mounting flanges sit roughly 2" in from each end of the bar. For installation into drywall without a stud behind it, blocking or a stud-finder confirmation is recommended before drilling, as with any wall-mounted grab bar.
